Ingredients

  • 1. Whole Wheat Flour - 1 cup


  • 2. Fresh Methi / Fenugreek Leaf - 1 cup chopped


  • 3. Onion - 1 fine chopped


  • 4. Ginger - 1 inch fine chopped


  • 5. Green Chili - 1 tablespoon fine chopped


  • 6. Chikpea Flour / Besan - 1/4 cup


  • 7. Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon


  • 8. Cumin Seeds - 1 teaspoon


  • 9. Salt - according to taste


  • 10. Asafoetida / Hing - 1/4 teaspoon


  • 11. Oil - 1 tablespoon for roasting


  • 12. Water - for kneading

Directions

  • Here are all the ingredients.
  • Take whole wheat flour and gram flour/ besan in a big mixing bowl, add salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, asafoetida powder and mix well with the flour.
  • Add fenugreek leaf/ methi, chopped oinions, chopped ginger, chopped green chili and mix well all the ingredients. Squeeze everything to release their water while mixing.
  • Add little bit of water and knead to a stiff dough. Do not make the dough very soft.
  • Once the mixture forms a dough shape, add 1 tablespoon of oil and knead till it gets smooth in texture.
  • The dough is ready and smooth, cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, divide the dough in small and equal portions.
  • Smooth the ball, dust little bit of flour on the ball.
  • Roll the ball into thin thepla.
  • Heat a tawa/ frying pan, put the rolled thepla on the hot tawa/ frying pan and cook slightly from one side.
  • Flip on other side and cook slighlty.
  • Put half tablespoon of oil on both the sides and roast till golden brown.
  • The thepla is ready now.
  • Serve hot with some tomato sour and sweet chutni and some raita.
